  • What Experience/Training do you have as a Newborn Photographer?
With 10 years of dedicated experience working with newborns and numerous hours invested in training and workshops, I am committed to providing a safe and calm environment for your precious new baby. Ensuring your baby's safety is our priority, and I never compromise it to capture an image. My expertise extends to Photoshop, where I specialize in creating composites. This technique involves seamlessly combining multiple images to produce a final, beautifully crafted photograph. This allows for a wide range of creative possibilities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort for your baby. During sessions, you can expect an extra layer of care as I work with an experienced assistant, who is always within arms reach of the baby. This collaborative approach ensures that your newborn's well-being is at the forefront of every moment captured. Ready to capture beautiful memories in a secure and nurturing setting? Contact us to book your newborn session today!
  • When is the best time to schedule a newborn photography session?
Ideally, newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first two weeks of your baby's arrival. This is when they are still sleepy and more easily posed. However, we are flexible and can accommodate sessions for babies of all ages.
  • When should I book my newborn session?
Many clients secure their sessions within a few months of their due date, and some even make reservations upon discovering they're expecting. The key is to act swiftly to avoid disappointment. We typically establish a tentative date based on your due date, recognizing that babies often arrive on their own schedule. While this serves as a starting point, we understand the flexibility needed for actual delivery dates. Your session will be penciled into our calendar for your birth month.
  • How do I secure my spot?
To secure your session date, a retainer deposit is essential. Given the demand for sessions and the possibility of waitlists, your spot cannot be guaranteed without this deposit. Clients who pre-book will always take precedence over last-minute bookings. For those booking closer to their due date, deposits must be paid no later than 24 hours before the session. Final payments are due before the session unless alternative arrangements have been made. By following this process, you ensure your spot on our schedule, providing peace of mind and prioritizing your newborn session experience. Ready to secure your spot? Contact us today to begin the journey!
  • Can we include family members in the session?
Absolutely! We encourage including family members in the session to capture the love and connection within your family. Family shots are an integral part of our sessions. If you'd like to include photos with siblings in your session, we'll prioritize capturing those images first. This approach ensures that older children are engaged from the beginning, minimizing any potential boredom from waiting. Your family's comfort and enjoyment during the session are top priorities. Following the sibling session, we can then spend the remainder of the session focusing exclusively on capturing the precious moments with your newborn.
  • What if my baby arrives early or late?
We understand that babies arrive on their own schedule. If your baby arrives early or late, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule the session for a time that is convenient and comfortable for your family.
  • What can I expect from my session?
Newborn sessions are relaxed and slow-paced as I work around the needs of your baby. Ideally, baby will be awake when you arrive and ready for big feed so they are ready for a nice long sleep! My style is a combination of posed and more natural images of baby using wraps, bonnets, hairbands and soft animals and hearts and I will aim to photograph baby both in props and on my beanbag in a variety of comfortable and safe poses. I also love to photograph the new baby with siblings if they have any and parents too.
  • When will my session take place?
Newborns are best photographed within the first twenty one days after birth. I generally try and book around the 6-14 day mark, as they tend to sleep better and love being all curled up in those sweet poses! However, please do not hesitate to contact me if your baby is older. I have very successfully photographed 'newborn' images of 5- and 6-week old babies; especially if they were born prematurely. Sometimes the only difference is we will get more awake/alert images with baby looking right at the camera! These are some of my favourite photos!
  • How long does the session last?
I typically schedule newborn sessions in the morning at 10am. This has been proven to be the most successful time for photographing the babies, as they tend to sleep better and fuss a lot less. My newborn sessions last between 2-4 hours depending on the Collection you choose. This allows for feeding, soothing, and capturing a variety of poses and expressions. Patience is key, and we ensure a relaxed atmosphere for both parents and baby.
  • What should we do to prepare for the session?
Once you book your session, we will send you a comprehensive welcome pack. This pack includes a detailed guide with wardrobe suggestions, tips for ensuring your baby's comfort, and recommendations for special items to bring to the session. Ensure your baby is dressed in loose-fitting clothes, well-fed.
  • Are props provided, or should we bring our own?
We have a selection of professional props, blankets, and wraps. However, you are welcome to bring any special items you'd like to incorporate into the photos, creating a unique and meaningful session.
  • What if my baby is fussy or doesn't want to sleep during the session?
It's completely normal for babies to be awake or fussy at times. Patience is key! We'll work with their natural rhythm, and I have techniques to soothe and settle them. Oh! and please expect that your little newborn will make a few little messes during the session. Please don't worry, It happens every time!
  • Can we request specific poses or themes for the session?
Absolutely! I welcome your input and ideas. Let me know your preferences during the pre-session consultation, and we'll work together to create the perfect session for you.
  • How long does it take to receive the final images?
The post-processing phase takes between 2 to 4 weeks. Once complete, you'll receive a link to a private online gallery where you can view and select your favorite images.
  • Is an in-person viewing session necessary?
While it's optional, an in-person viewing session allows for personalized guidance on selecting prints and products. It's a wonderful opportunity to see your images in physical form and envision how they will look beautifully displayed in your home. Professionally printed images not only showcase the timeless beauty of your family but also become tangible heirlooms that can be passed down through generations, creating a legacy of love.
  • Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, we offer gift certificates for newborn sessions. They make wonderful gifts for baby showers or as a special present for expecting parents.
